Training your horse....

Jane and Fernhill Lantana
In order to measure your improvement, the first thing to do is find out where you are in your training. We will then need to set appropriate goals and work out a program in order to get there, with periodic updates to ensure that the goals are achievable.
Key to this is understanding your horses physiology, fitness, natural ability and capacity for learning.
Building a solid partnership between horse and rider will also mean an honest appreciation of your own physical abilities and an earnest approach to improvement.
Welfare of the horse is paramount during its development and training. Your horse is your calendar. Your work should meet your horses physical and mental state at all times. In the words of Arthur Kottas, former First Chief Rider of the Spanish Riding School, Vienna, 'Take your time, but don't waste your time!'.
As well as working with you and your horse as a team, Fernhill Riding can take your horse for a residential schooling program. Fernhills team of physiotherapist and veterinary surgeon will be on hand to assist and advise if required.
